Article body
Floriana FC secured the final place in the Maltese Premier League Championship Pool with a victory on penalty kicks after 120 minutes of tense action failed to produce a goal in their play-off with Marsa FC.
Dardouri misses
Marsa, who are now left to try and avoid relegation along with three other clubs, went closest to opening the scoring in a tense first half, Ridha Dardouri heading wide with the goal gaping in the 33rd minute. The same player went clean through just a minute later but again his finishing did not match the play that preceded it.
Shoot-out success
The second half failed to produce chances of that calibre but Brazilian Edoardo do Nascimento tested Marsa goalkeeper Ivan Casha eleven minutes from time. Extra-time passed without a goal and Floriana were left celebrating after triumphing 4-3 in the shoot-out.
