Mihai Stoichita will take over as coach of Moldovan champions FC Sheriff Tiraspol after the weekend sacking of Alexandr Golokolosov.

Nine-point lead
The Romanian takes charge just a week before the end of the Moldovan winter break, with his new side nine points clear at the top of the Divizia Nationala.

Fourth coach this season
Despite their apparent stroll towards another league title, Sheriff are on to their fourth coach of 2001/02, Vladimir Zemlianoy, Valery Vasiliev, and Golokolosov all preceding Stoichita in the role.

Upbeat about new employers
However, Stoichita, formerly in charge of  FC Steaua Bucuresti, FC National Bucuresti, PFC Litex Lovech and the Panamanian national team is upbeat about his new employers. "I am delighted at the work conditions at the club, especially with the new modern stadium being built in Tiraspol," he said.

Striker joins former national boss
Panamanian striker Roberto Brown will be among his former national coach's squad, having been signed by the club prior to Stoichita's appointment.
