Swiss first-division club FC Aarau have agreed on a one-year loan with Emanuel Pogatetz from Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
The 19 year-old tall defender, who failed to win a place in the Leverkusen squad, might make his debut for Aarau next Saturday in Geneva against Servette FC.
Pogatetz is a regular in the Austrian Under-21 selection and played his one and only international match for his country’s senior national team in May 2002 when Austria was defeated 6-2 by Germany in Leverkusen. In this match, Pogatetz played six minutes.
The Austrian youngster joined Leverkusen from Austrian first-division club FC Kärnten in 2001, but he never made it into Klaus Toppmöller’s team. During the last months he has been playing with Bayer’s amateur team.
