Calcio Catania, bottom of Serie A, have parted company with coach Luigi De Canio and reappointed Rolando Maran following a 4-1 defeat by second-tier AC Siena in the Coppa Italia round of 16 on Wednesday.
Replaced by De Canio eight league games into this season, Maran has taken charge of the Etnei for the second time, although no details about the length of his contract have been revealed.
The 50-year-old was given the reins at the Sicilian outfit ahead of the 2012/13 campaign and led the side to a club-record 56 Serie A points and eighth place in the final table. De Canio won just two of his 11 top-flight matches in the post.
Catania, four points adrift of safety, host fourth-ranked ACF Fiorentina on Sunday.
