Ankle injury rules out Gustafsson

FC Inter Turku striker Mats Gustafsson will miss the start of the Finnish Veikkausliiga season having sustained an ankle ligament injury that will keep him on the sidelines for between six and eight weeks. 
 
Ankle misery
Gustafsson sustained the injury during a pre-season friendly with VPS Vassa and the ankle will now undergo further examinations to determine the full extent of the damage.
 
Worst possible moment
"Gustafsson was injured in the worst possible moment," said coach Pertti Lundell. "We don't have too many wingers on the bench. It is sad to see players tackled like Mats was. We have lost far too many players during the winter because of bad tackles."
 
Lengthy lay-off
Gustafsson joined Inter in 1999 but is still to make an impact at the club following a lengthy injury lay-off.
