On 23 June 2022, the UEFA Executive Committee decided that UEFA competition matches could not be staged in the Moldovan region of Transnistria until further notice, due to concerns regarding the security situation in the region.

Following a re-evaluation of the current situation, notably based on the conclusions consistently drawn by agencies specialised in international political and strategic analysis, whose reports have been consulted by the UEFA administration, and based on safety and security guarantees, the UEFA Executive Committee confirmed on 28 June that matches may once again be played on the territory of the Transnistrian region with immediate effect.
