Willem II moved clear of the Eredivisie relegation zone with a convincing 4-2 victory over FC Utrecht on Saturday.
Red card
Willem took advantage of Utrecht goalkeeper Harald Wapenaar's 53rd-minute dismissal, for a professional foul on Kew Jaliens, to run out comfortable winners at the Willem II Stadion. Stefan Tanghe headed the visitors ahead against the run of play in the 13th minute after a perfect cross from Igor Gluscevic. Christian Janssens curled home a free-kick from 25 metres to level matters just after the half-hour and Willem were rampant following the departure of Wapenaar.
Landzaat double
Denny Landzaat netted with a penalty to make it 2-1, before a Tom Caluwé header and another Landzaat spot-kick gave the hosts a three-goal cushion. Paulus Roiha netted a memorable consolation goal for Utrecht nine minutes from time, drilling the ball home across the goalkeeper from 30 metres.
Van den Eede penalty
Bart van den Eede scored an 80th-minute winner as FC Den Bosch won 1-0 against De Graafschap in Doetinchem. De Graafschap's John van den Brom was sent off in the 79th minute and Van den Eede netted the resulting penalty. Peter Uneken then ensures that both teams finished with ten men when he was also shown red but Den Bosch hung on for a valuable three points.
