Málaga make Salva signing

The former Spanish international striker Salva Ballesta has joined Málaga CF after he was released by Valencia CF.

Four-year contract
The 30-year-old has signed a contract running until summer 2009. He went to Valencia in July 2001 from Club Atlético de Madrid but never recaptured the form that saw him finish as the Primera División's 26-goal top scorer with Real Racing Club Santander in 1999/00.

Loan spells
In January 2003 he began a series of loans, moving to Bolton Wanderers FC in England for the rest of that season then to Málaga for the 2003/04 campaign, where he struck 19 league goals. He spent last term back at Atlético, before Valencia coach Quique Sánchez Flores told the Seville-born player he was not in his plans for the new season and offered to cancel the final year of his contract.
