Foronda fond of Russia

New FC Spartak Alania Vladikavkaz defender Francisco Foronda will become the first Colombian to play in Russia.

Defender Francisco Foronda will become the first Colombian to play in Russia after signing a one-year loan deal with FC Spartak-Alania Vladikavkaz.

Colmobian experience
The deal will take Foronda from CD Once Caldas in his home country to join Spartak-Alania, who are based in the region of North Osetia, not far from Chechnya. The 30-year-old defender has played for Atlético Nacional Medellín and Deportivo Indepediente before.

No fear
"I am not afraid of anything, I have positive and winning mentality," said Foronda when asked whether he was nervous about moving to Russia. "I am prepared for heat and cold and if I have to sleep in an igloo, bring it on."

Fourth signing
Foronda is the fourth signing of the winter campaign for Spartak-Alania, who are reportedly experiencing financial difficulties. Two legendary defenders, Omari Tetradze and Artur Pagaev have left the club recently over unpaid wages.
