Refs reflect on seminar

Refereeing

The fourth annual UEFA Europe's international women referees seminar ended today.

Bo Karlsson, member of the European Referees' Committee, spoke of a successful two days as he reflected on the fourth annual UEFA seminar for European international women referees which concluded at UEFA headquarters in Nyon on Thursday.

High fitness
Mr Karlsson said he was very satisfied with the fitness levels shown by the 40 referees from 31 countries who attended the seminar and took part in Wednesday's exacting fitness tests. He also praised the presentations by Ingrid Jonsson and Katriina Elovirta, whose analysis of the recent FIFA Women's World Cup in China from a refereeing perspective produced very interesting group discussions and open dialogue. Overall, Mr Karlsson he said it had been very informative to listen to the instructions given to referees at the course, which emphasised the collective aim of protecting the game.

Dallas presentation
Speaking earlier, former international referee and member of the UEFA Referees' Committee Hugh Dallas, presented an overview of the fifth Summer Gathering for UEFA Elite Referees and the seventh Seminar for Assistant Referees which took place in Nyon in September. He paid particular attention to simulation, conflict management situations and managing quick free kicks situations.
