UEFA is, thankfully, not alone in promoting respect: the head of the French Football Federation's ethics committee, former French international Dominique Rocheteau, has teamed up with journalist Chérif Ghemmour to produce a new book in French, Le Guide du Respect dans le Football, illustrated by Aki and published by Calmann-Lévy.

Ten commandments of respect
The guide contains ten stories about a team called Respect, corresponding to ten commandments of respect: for the coach, your team-mates, your own body and health, others, the referee, your opponents, diversity, the public, equipment and facilities, and the match. Each story is accompanied by a contribution from a big name in French football, either a player or a coach.

Educational tool
The book is designed to serve as an educational tool, with the ultimate objective being to make young boy and girl footballers aware of the meaning of respect – a word which UEFA and its President Michel Platini have been promoting since UEFA EURO 2008™.
