Krylya Sovetov Samara took over the lead in the Russian league when they swept to a 3-1 win against FC Fakel Voronezh while former leaders FC Spartak Moscow at the same time surprisingly lost 2-1 to FC Zenit St. Petersburg.

Saturn stun Lokomotiv
FC Lokomotiv Moscow looked in blistering form throughout their 2-0 win against SC Rotor Volgograd where Obiroah and Buznikin scored once in each half to seal the victory while two goals from Popov and Filipenkov was enough to beat Dinamo Moscow 2-0. With all the top sides winning, FC Torpedo Moscow also desperately needed a win against FC Saturn Ramenskoye.
But all their hopes were in vain as Saturn went home celebrating with an astonishing 4-0 win thanks to goals from Movsesyan, Meloyshin, Lyapkin and Kechinov.

Disappointing draw
Also FC Sokol Saratov disappointed with a goalless draw against bottom-placed Chernomorets Novorossyisk. The atmosphere was then better at FC Rostselmash Rostov-Na-Donu who booked a 1-0 win at FC Anzhi Makhachkala through a goal from Kirichenko while FC Alania Vladikavkaz and FC Torpedo-ZIL Moscow settled for a share of the spoils in a draw.

FC Zenit St. Petersburg 2-1 FC Spartak Moscow
When Spartak took the lead in the 17th minute through a penalty conversion everyone would have expected the reigning champions to run away with the victory, but two goals within two minutes from Kerzhakov and Katulskiy turned the tide in Zenit’s favour.

Krylya Sovetov Samara 3-2 FC Fakel Voronezh
Despite a 36th minute goal from Safronov, Krylya never looked in trouble in their match against Fakel and their 3-1 win gave a good image of the match-proceedings. At half-time the hosts led 2-1 thanks to two goals from Koryaka and Samarone completed the job six minutes from time to clinch the top spot for Krylya.
