New sponsors
They were unhindered by a small following and lack of financial muscle, although the cash situation may change after the signing of a new deal with sponsors Nouvelles Frontières.
Hardworking
Bastia, founded in 1905, are renowned for their passion and hardworking attitude - hence their nickname “The Lions”. However, the club’s only silverware to date is the French Cup, lifted in 1981.
UEFA Cup finalists
Their greatest achievement in Europe was in reaching the 1978 UEFA Cup final where they lost over two legs to PSV Eindhoven.
Consistent striker
The fortunes of Bastia are slowly looking to take a turn for the better, with the emergence of Frederic Née as a prolific and consistent striker. However, the loss of the attacking force of Pierre-Yves André, and defensive midfielder, Piotr Swierczewski will have to be compensated with fresh signings by new coach Robert Nouzaret if the Lions are to maintain their recent success.
