CSKA Moscow played FC CSCA Kyiv in a charity match on Sunday to honour the Moscow side's late goalkeeper Serhiy Perkhun and raise money for his family.

Accidental clash
The Ukraine international died on Tuesday from a brain haemorrhage following an accidental clash of heads with an opposing player during a Russian premier division game two weeks ago.

Match proceeds
The organisers said that proceeds from the match, won by the hosts 1-0, would go to support Perkhun's pregnant wife and child. A crowd of only a few hundred people braved a cold rainy night to attend the game in the Russian capital.

Sadyrin saddened
"I wish we didn't have to play this match at all," Moscow head coach Pavel Sadyrin said after the match. "I can assure everyone that our club will take care of Serhiy's family for the rest of their lives. When Serhiy died I felt like I just lost my son."

Yeremin loss
Sadyrin experienced the loss of another CSKA Moscow goalkeeper in June 1991 when Mikhail Yeremin was killed in a car crash just one day after his team beat Torpedo Moscow in the Russian Cup final.
