Young Boys maintain pace

BSC Young Boys retained their leadership of the Nationalliga A in Switzerland on Saturday following round ten of the Swiss first division.

Tough test
However, their match at the Wankdorf stadium against seventh-placed FC Aarau was not the walkover many assumed it would be. Young Boys went ahead on 29 minutes through Avraham Tikva, but had to wait until the 81st minute to finally settle their nerves when Gürkan Sermeter made it 2-0. A last-minute strike from the visitors’ Christian Okpala was only a consolation.

A point adrift
Elsewhere, Grasshopper-Club kept on the heels of the leaders thanks to a 1-0 win at the Hardturm stadium, the only goal of the match coming in the 33rd minute through Richard Nuñez. That victory keeps Grasshoppers just a point behind Young Boys.

Humiliating reverse
FC Zürich suffered a humiliating 3-0 reverse at the hands of bottom club FC Luzern, while FC St. Gallen won 2-1 away at Servette FC, but still remain one point behind SC Kriens. FC Sion needed just the one goal to overcome second from bottom Lausanne Sports in Saturday's other game.

Staying third
On Friday, third-placed FC Lugano were easy winners against Neuchâtel Xamax FC.
