Dragan Nacevski scored twice to give FK Vardar a 2-0 win over newly-promoted FK Napredok in round four of the Macedonian Premier League.
Volley home
The home side, who slipped up away at FK Cementarnica 55 last week, took a while to get into their stride on Sunday. But after a goalless first half, Nacevski broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute as he broke though Napredok's static defence to volley home Aleksander Vasovski's right wing cross off the woodwork.
Punished again
The visitors did not heed the warning and were punished again when Nacevski was left unmarked again in the 81st minute. With Napredok pouring forward in search of an equaliser Nacevski raced clear, drew goalkeeper Zoran Miceski, and calmly lifted the ball into the empty net.
Early strike
The win leaves Vardar a point behind the leaders FK Sloga Jugomagnat, but fourth due to an inferior goal difference behind FK Sileks and FK Pobeda. Last year's champions Sloga took a second minute lead against FK Osogovo through Refik Arif but surprisingly were unable to add to their score and it finished 1-0.
Top scorers
Osogovo remain rooted to the bottom having now conceded 10 times in four outings, without reply. Sileks go second after a comfortable 3-0 win over second from bottom FK Pelister. Sileks are now the league's leading scorers with 15 goals in four games.
Edged out
Cementarnica failed to build on their first win of the season, having beaten Vardar last weekend, as they were edged out by FK Belasica GC 2-1. In the day's other game FK Kumanovo won 2-0 at home to FK Rabotnicki.
Easy away win
On Saturday, Pobeda enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 away victory at FK Makedonija Skopje. The visitors dominated the game but had to wait until the 65th minute to take the lead when Dime Angelovski scored with a diving header. Miroslav Gjokic made the points safe for Pobeda ten minutes later when he played a one-two with Brazilian Gilson and easily beat the goalkeeper.
