The Fir Park club are bottom of the table with three points - and no wins - from seven matches so far this season. Davies' final game in charge was a 3-0 defeat at Rangers FC on Sunday.

Davies, who took the helm at Motherwell in October 1998, had a record of 41 wins from 136 games. Motherwell finished in the bottom half of the SPL last term but the arrival of seven players in the close season has so far failed to improve their fortunes.
