FC Sion's Swiss first division title hopes have been dealt a blow after they had three points deducted for fielding too many foreign players in a match last month.
Victory overturned
Sion's 1-0 victory over FC St. Gallen on 26 August will now go into the record books as a 3-0 loss after coach Laurent Roussey used six foreign players, one over the league's limit.
Seven-point deduction
The ruling comes two weeks after the club were docked seven points by the Swiss National League's disciplinary commission for failing to meet their licence obligations. Sion officials have appealed against the seven-point deduction.
Drop in table
The penalties mean that Sion, who won the Nationalliga A and Swiss Cup double in 1997, have dropped from first to second from bottom in the division.
