Milan AC produced a blistering second-half display to beat city rivals Internazionale FC 4-2 in Italy’s Serie A on Sunday.

Trailed at half-time
The game at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium was delayed by a power cut but it didn't seem to affect Inter much as they led at the break through Nicola Ventola. But Milan's introduction of Romanian international Cosmin Contra after the interval transformed the match.

Quick-fire goals
Milan drew level on the hour when Manuel Rui Costa picked out an unmarked Andriy Shevchenko at the back post and the Ukrainian headed home. Two minutes later, from a quick free-kick, Contra fired past Inter keeper Francesco Toldo from 25 metres, and then crossed for Filippo Inzaghi, whose header made it three goals in six minutes.

Met perfectly
Shevchenko added his second and Milan's fourth in the 78th minute, finishing off a smart move after Rui Costa had fed Serginho on the left, whose low cross was met perfectly by the former FC Dinamo Kyiv forward.

Consolation goal
Sierra Leone striker Mohamed Kallon claimed an injury time consolation goal for Inter, converting a cross from substitute Okan Buruk.

Totti double
Francesco Totti scored twice as Serie A champions AS Roma showed they were back to form with a 5-1 victory over US Lecce.

Glancing header
Roma put their sluggish start to the season behind them with a comprehensive victory which lifts them to fifth in the table. Totti was the inspiration for Fabio Capello's side and he put them in front with a glancing header from Vincent Candela's free-kick in the eighth minute. The Roma captain then turned provider, whipping over a corner which Argentinian defender Walter Samuel slid home at the back post.

Sublime chip
Shortly afterwards, Lecce's Uruguayan Ernesto Chevanton issued a reminder of his own qualities with a sublime turn and chip to beat Roma goalkeeper Francesco Antonioli from the edge of the penalty area. But rather than prompt a Lecce revival the goal merely spurred on Roma. Totti converted a penalty for the third, Candela made it four with a fine solo effort and four minutes from the end Gabriel Batistuta wrapped things up with a cool finish.

Dizzy heights
Serie A newcomers AC Chievo Verona moved to the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Parma AC. Brazilian Eriberto’s precise cross was converted by Bernardo Corradi for the decisive goal to seal Chievo’s fifth win in seven matches and move them two points ahead of Inter. Chievo, who joined the professional ranks only 15 years ago, stay top after Inter's failure to win their derby against Milan.

Lazio slump
Elsewhere, S.S. Lazio failed to add to their solitary league win this season as they were held to a goalless draw at bottom club AC Venezia. Udinese Calcio produced an outstanding performance to win 5-1 at Atalanta BC with Roberto Muzzi and Danish midfielder Martin Jørgensen scoring twice for Roy Hodgson's side.

Baggio hurt
Former European Player of the Year Roberto Baggio scored, but was later carried off injured, as Brescia Calcio won 1-0 at Piacenza FC. Meanwhile, Torino Calcio enjoyed their first win of the season, 1-0 over AC Perugia, thanks to a 26th-minute strike from Marco Ferrante.

Fiorentina troubles
AC Fiorentina suffered their fifth defeat in seven games, going down 2-0 at home to Hellas-Verona FC. Massimo Oddo put Hellas-Verona FC ahead with a penalty a minute before the break and 12 minutes after the restart Romanian Adrian Mutu doubled their advantage with a superb curling drive from 25 metres out.
