Won the treble
The 36-year-old midfielder agreed to stay at Celtic Park for one more year after the Glasgow club won the treble last season but he insists he will not be tempted to extend his contract for yet another term because his dream lies with managing his country's national team.
'The national team is special'
"It is my dream to return to Slovakia and become the national coach," said Moravcik, whose Celtic side must beat Juventus FC in their final first group stage fixture on Wednesday to have any hope of progress in the UEFA Champions League. "This is exactly what I would like to realise in my future career. The national team is special. For players and coaches it is like playing every game in the Champions League."
'I would like the chance'
Moravcik continued: "It would not be so special to be a club manager because you don't have the same responsibilities. If I could become the national coach of Slovakia, I'd have the chance to work with some very good players and to make choices that would affect the whole country. In Slovenia, Srecko Katanec is also doing a good job with the national side and I would like to be given the chance of doing a similar job for my country."
Commitments to Celtic
Although Slovakia are searching for a new coach at the moment, Moravcik knows he cannot take advantage of the vacancy because of his commitments to Celtic, but he hopes for the chance some day. "Slovakia are looking for a new national manager right now but I can't do it because I am still playing for Celtic," he said. "Who knows what will happen now? Another guy could get the chance and maybe he will be there for years so I will have to wait for my opportunity. But, hopefully, one day my dream can come true.''
