An investor in Romanian club FC Steaua Bucuresti has been banned from attending the club’s matches for six months after accusing a match official of taking a bribe.

Goal disallowed
Gheorghe Becali’s comments came after an assistant referee ruled out for offside a goal scored by Steaua in the derby match with FC Rapid Bucuresti on Sunday, 21 October. If allowed, the score would have been levelled at 1-1 but Steaua went on to lose 3-0.

No evidence
As Becali was unable to provide any evidence to back his allegations, the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) took action. As well as the ban, he has been fined €2,000 and must pay it by 12 November.

Meeting ban
In addition Becali will not be allowed to represent Steaua at FRF and Professional League of Football (LPF) meetings and events.
