FK Vardar moved to within three points of Prva Fudbalska Liga leaders FK Pobeda on Thursday with a 1-0 win over FK Osogovo in Skopje.
Only goal
The round eleven tie, which had been re-arranged to allow Vardar to play a friendly game with Yugoslavian side FK Radnicki Niš to mark Dragan Stojkovic’s last game for the club, was decided by Dragan Nacevski’s 80th-minute goal, but the result could have been more emphatic for the home side.
No substitutes
Vardar dominated the game against a stubborn Osogovo side who were so decimated by injuries that they were unable to field any substitutes. However, Osogovo nearly scored a surprise opening goal when, in one of their rare attacks three minutes before Vardar took the lead, Dobrinko Ilievski hit the post with a fierce drive.
Fourth place
The result sees Vardar move up to fourth place, level with FK Sloga Jugomagnat, FK Belasica GC and FK Rabotnicki on points, but three behind the leaders Pobeda.
