New appointments
Olympiakos confirmed the appointment of Greek coach Pambis Tennes, who replaces assistant coach Andros Kouloumbris, yesterday while Apollon have hired former AEK Athens FC player Toni Savevski to replace their assistant coach Stavros Stylianou.
AEK Athens success
Savevski, who was also a Macedonian international, enjoyed success in Greece with AEK Athens side during the early 1990s and has since been coaching in the Greek leagues. Last season he coached AEK Athens but was later replaced by Fernando Santos.
Same time
Apollon, who had coach Ronnie Whelan walk out on them after just four games of the season, announced the signing of Pambis Tennes at almost the same time Olympiakos announced Savevski as their new coach.
Poor starts
Both sides have begun the Division A season campaigns poorly with Olympiakos lying in tenth position while Apollon are right above them with just one-point difference. Last season, Olympiakos had an amazing run in the Cypriot first division, finishing second behind the champions Omonia Nicosia FC while Apollon won the Cypriot Cup with a 1-0 in the final against Nea Salamis FC.
