Netherlands: Nelisse strike sinks Den Bosch

An 89th-minute winner from Robin Nelisse secured AZ Alkmaar a 3-2 win that pushed FC Den Bosch deeper into the relegation trouble on Friday.

A minute from time
Goals by defender Peter Uneken and striker Fabian de Freitas, in response to Ali Elkhattabi's opener, had put Den Bosch 2-1 up in the first half. But Barry van Galen's free-kick just before the break and Nelisse's winner a minute from time mean the visitors have now gone nine games without a victory.

Fires past De Jong
Alkmaar went into the match without a goal in their last two games but they took only ten minutes to take the lead. Elkhattabi's one-two with Danish strike partner Kenneth Pérez put the Moroccan through and he fired past Den Bosch goalkeeper Max de Jong.

Den Bosch hit back
However, Den Bosch proved with their recent 3-3 draw at RKC Waalwijk that they can score goals and they soon hit back. Six minutes after falling behind, left-back Uneken found space to head home a right-wing free-kick from centre-back Fred van der Hoorn. In the 25th minute, they were ahead as De Freitas struck from close range.

As good as it gets
That was as good as it got for the visitors. A thunderous 35-yard free-kick from Alkmaar midfielder Van Galen made it 2-2 and Nelisse, who took the field after 64 minutes, netted Alkmaar's winner in the closing minutes, as he made space for himself on the right side of the area before rifling the ball into the far corner.
