Baník failed to recover after conceding two goals in the opening eight minutes as first Stanislav Vlcek and then Lubomir Reiter scored. The visitors halved the deficit through Milan Baroš, who struck in the 31st minute, but they could not find an equaliser as Sigma held on for a victory that lifted them clear of the relegation zone.
