TS Wisla Kraków moved to the top of the Ekstraklasa championship group on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Pogon Szczecin.

Excellent performance
Maciej Zurawski picked up a pass from Kamil Kosowski to score the only goal of the game in the 40th minute with a superb strike that capped an exceptional performance. Wisla were made to work hard for their win by a determined Pogon side who were celebrating their 1000th game in the Ekstraklasa. The result leaves Wislaw top of the championship group with wins from both their games since the Polish first division split.

Not Wodsislaw’s day
Astute striking helped KS Amica Wronki on their way to a 2-1 win against Odra Wodzislaw in Saturday’s other championship group game. In the 21st minute Jacek Dembinski’s shot found the net following a Marek Zienczuk pass and only two minutes later Dembinski turned provider as his pass helped Grzegorz Król increase the lead. A Lukasz Sosin goal in the 75th minute gave Wodzislaw hope but when the same player’s shot hit the post three minutes from time it was clearly not to be Wodzislaw’s day.

Late goal

In the relegation group, a 90th-minute goal from 19-year-old mifdfielder Blazej Radler gave KS Górnik Zabrze a valuable win against Slask Wroclaw. Radler rose to head home Grzegorz Bonk’s corner to give Górnik a win which their performance barely deserved.

Near misses
KSZO Ostrowiec and Stomil Olsztyn drew 0-0 at the MOSiR stadium, but both sides had their chances to break the deadlock. Marek Kwiatkowski struck the post for Stomil in the opening minute while Ostrowiec's Tomasz Zelazowski hit the bar on 33 minutes. It also finished goalless between RKS Radomsko and KS Groclin-Dyskobolia Grodzisk.
