Enosis Neon Paralimni FC continued their brilliant run in the Cypriot first division with an easy 3-0 win over Ermis Aradippos FC on Sunday.
Great saves
Ermis keeper Stelios Stylianou put on a brave first-half performance, saving a 37th minute penalty from Costas Elias before pulling off some great saves to deny the Georgian striker Levani Kebadze and Georgos Peklis.
Late surge
Antonis Zembashis’s 59th-minute free-kick eventually beat Stylianou, with Kebadze bagging his third goal of the season with a fine header. Youngster Georgos Kolanis snatched a third for Paralimni with two minutes remaining.
Anorthosis defeated again
Also on Sunday, Olympiakos Nicosia FC got back to their winning ways of last season with an impressive 2-0 win over an Anorthosis Famagusta FC side that suffered their second defeat in a row.
Early double
Slovakian Jozef Kozlej got Olympiakos underway in the fourth minute with a superb strike from Demetris Assiotis’s pass after the ball was not cleared in the Anorthosis area. Yugoslavian forward Sava Radosavljev made it two for the Nicosia club in the 21st minute with another pinpoint shot that left Nicos Panagiotou stranded in the Anorthosis goal.
Aristocleous dismissal
Olympiakos piled on the pressure whilst Anorthosis were goal shy upfront and vulnerable at the back and it was only Panagiotou’s brilliant second half saves that kept the score as it was. Olympiakos had Aristos Aristocleous sent off in the 65th minute for a second bookable offense.
