R. Charleroi SC are to become the first Belgian first division club to go public, when they float on the markets next spring.

R. Charleroi SC confirmed on Thursday that they are to become the first Belgian first division club to go public, when they float on the markets next spring.

Paris, not Brussels
However, in an unexplained move, the club have opted to float on the Paris stock exchange rather than on their home country's exchange in Brussels. The Irish airline Ryanair are reportedly interested in investing in the club as it lands many planes at Charleroi airport, which is also known as 'Brussels South'.

Tenth place
With 14 games played in Belgium, Charleroi are in tenth place in the table. Coached by former international Enzo Scifo, they lost 5-1 in their last outing against KFC Lommelse SK on Wednesday night.
