AFC Ajax have parted company with coach Co Adriaanse after a poor run of form in the Dutch Eredivisie and elimination from the UEFA Cup.

Win in last game
The dismissal came despite a 3-2 win on Wednesday night over FC Twente at the Amsterdam ArenA. Adriaanse’s team selection on the night had brought boos from sections of the crowd and many waved white handkerchiefs to show their disdain.

Unanimous decision

Early leaders
Adriaanse, who took charge of the Amsterdam club last year, had seen his side start the season in fine form. However, things took a turn for the worse following a 5-1 defeat away at SC Heerenveen at the end of October.

Out of UEFA Cup
After a victory over Willem II, Ajax could only scrape a draw with strugglers De Graafschap before suffering successive 3-1 home setbacks against NAC Breda and PSV Eindhoven. The club were also knocked out at the second-round stage of the UEFA Cup at the hands of FC København.
