More glory
The away victory came just two days after their UEFA Cup heroics against FC Girondins de Bordeaux which saw them through to the fourth round. Goals from Fredrik Berglund and Mark Luijpers earned the win after Jan Kronkamp had put AZ ahead.
Last-gasp goal
Elsewhere, Arek Radomski to score in the last minute to give SC Heerenveen a point from their trip south to Tilburg. With Willem II 2-1 ahead and deep into stoppage time, De Vlieger was penalised for holding on to the ball for longer than the permitted six seconds. Radomski crashed the ball home from the resulting free-kick to earn a 2-2 draw.
First home defeat
Rick Hoogendorp's injury-time winner for RKC Waalwijk sent NAC Breda to their first home defeat of the season. NAC were unbeaten in six games until Hoogendorp beat Gábor Babos from 12 yards out with the only goal of the game.
