Kennedy header
Ankaragücü went ahead after nine minutes, Ohene Kennedy heading home Yilmaz Özlem’s far-post cross. And the hosts doubled their advantage ten minutes from time when Augustine Ahinful fired home after good work from Niyazi Güney.
Ten men
The Istanbul side struggled to take advantage of playing against ten men for the final 19 minutes after Hakan Keles was sent off. In fact, the visitors only found the net after the referee had reduced them to ten men too.
Drilled home
Emre Asik’s dismissal in the 87th minute was followed by a Galatasaray goal deep into stoppage time when Serkan Aykut drilled the ball home from an Arif Erdem pass.
Red mist
Meanwhile, Antalyaspor had two players sent off as they lost 3-1 at Diyarbakirspor. Saffet Akyuz was dismissed midway through the first half and Ugur Yasan was shown the red card for a foul on Selçuk Beyaz eight minutes from time.
Yilmaz opener
Diyarbakirspor took the lead after 20 minutes through Ali Yilmaz and doubled their advantage shortly after half-time when Andre N'Gole struck. Mehmet Oncan pulled a goal back for the visitors but N'Gole's second put the game beyond Antalyaspor.
Worries eased
Elsewhere, Yozgatspor eased their relegation worries as they overwhelmed Kocaelispor 4-0 and Rizespor beat Samsunspor 1-0 with a goal from Umit Özan 18 minutes from time.
