Feyenoord regained top spot in the Eredivisie on Sunday when they thrashed NEC Nijmegen 5-0.
Great landmark
Although Feyenoord had few problems against a defensive NEC, it was not until the 40th minute that Jon Dahl Tomasson broke the deadlock. Just before half-time Pierre van Hooijdonk made it 2-0 when he fired home a rebound from his own free-kick for the 250th goal of his career.
Hesp sent off
The Dutch international striker then added his second and his 13th of the season from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute. Four minutes later captain Paul Bosvelt made it four and Igor Korneev scored Feyenoord's fifth in the 84th minute. NEC ended the match with ten men after defender Danny Hesp was sent off for his second bookable offence one minute before the end.
Injured veteran
There was less drama in the meeting of PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente, a match the injury-hit hosts won with an André Ooijer penalty in the 63rd minute. PSV, who were missing six first-choice players, also saw Jan Heintze added to the injury list as the 38-year-old defender limped off with a leg injury six minutes before half-time. PSV are now up to third in the league.
Hoogendorp wins it
NAC Breda dominated their match against RKC Waalwijk, only for Waalwijk to secure all three points in injury time through the club's top scorer, Rick Hoogendorp. SC Heerenveen escaped defeat against Willem II when they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2. It was the third match in succession that Willem had squandered a 2-0 lead.
