Olympiakos Pireaus FC kept up their sluggish start to the season with a 1-1 draw away at OFI Crete on Saturday.
Disappointed with point
The Greek champions, who were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in October, are second in the Ethniki Katigoria but will be disappointed with only a share of the points.
Chances spurned
Veteran Greece striker Alekos Alexandris scored the opening goal for Olympiakos, latching on to a Christos Patsatzoglu cross to net the opening goal. But OFI's Ronald Gomez equalised with a superb left-footed shot from 18-yards in the 55th minute. Alexandris could have won the game for Olympiakos but spurned two good chances.
Charisteas scores on return
Saturday’s other game saw FC Aris Thessaloniki moved into third spot after also being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Panahaiki GC. Paulo Ricardo Kobayashi gave the visitors a surprise lead in the 24th minute but young Greece striker Angelos Charisteas, making his return to the team from injury, equalised six minutes after half-time.
