Andre Bergdolmo opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 14 minutes after Ren van Diern fouled Rafael van der Vaart and Nikos Michlas added a second after 28 minutes, heading home Tim de Cler's cross.
Missed opportunities
Abubakari Yakubu and Michlas had chances to add to the lead and De Cler saw a shot cannon off the crossbar after 53 minutes before Zlatan Ibrahimovic beat Sittard goalkeeper Ruud Hesp for the third time in the evening on 68 minutes.
Ibrahimovic turns on the style
Ibrahimovic added his second of the evening and Ajax's fourth seven minutes later when he nudged home De Cler's cross from close range. The result leaves Ajax a point clear of Feyenoord at top of the table, although the Rotterdam club have a game in hand.
