Newcastle United FC striker Carl Cort faces at least two more months out of action after undergoing knee surgery in the United States.

Eight weeks
A statement on Newcastle's official website said Cort went under the knife in Colorado and will spend eight weeks rehabilitating before returning to first-team action.

Injury nightmare
Cort flew out to Denver on Sunday to see specialist Richard Steadman after failing to shake off a problem which has plagued him since August. "Carl Cort underwent a minor operation on 5 December for which the normal rehabilitation period is eight weeks,'' said a Newcastle spokesman.

Plagued by injuries
The 24-year-old has been plagued by injuries since his €11m move to Newcastle from Wimbledon FC in July last year and has not played since suffering the injury in pre-season.

Ankle problems
A combination of problems with his ankle, hamstrings and now knee mean he has made just 15 appearances for manager Bobby Robson's side.
