KRC Genk moved to the top of the Belgian first division after Saturday's dramatic 4-2 win at R. Exelsior Mouscron.

Sonck on target
With the morning's leaders Club Brugge KV not playing until Sunday, Genk took full advantage and took an early lead when Wesley Sonck prodded home midfielder Mirsad Beslija's cross after just seven minutes.

Dramatic finish
Excelsior struck back after 28 minutes through Steve Dugardein, but Genk were back in front just three minutes later when Moumouni Dagano converted Bernd Thijs's free-kick. An own goal from Mikal Zewlakow gave Genk a two-goal lead after 52 minutes before Dugardein lobbed Genk goalkeeper Jan Moons to set up a dramatic finish at the Cannonier stadium.

Sucker punch
With the hosts driving forward in search of an equaliser, Genk broke free through Moroccan defender Akram Roumani whose cross was met by Dagano for his second goal of the game.

Kaklamanos celebrates in style
KAA Ghent showed some of their early season form with a comprehensive 3-0 win against R. Charlerois SC. Greek striker Aleksandros Kaklamanos celebrated signing a two-year contract extension by scoring twice against his former club in the 40th and 72nd minutes, with Anders Christensen scoring Ghent's other goal.

Anderlecht revival continues
Belgian champions RSC Anderlecht continued their recent rally with a 2-1 win away at struggling KVC Westerlo. Joris Van Hout headed them in front after 58 minutes and a superb individual effort from Gilles de Bilde doubled their leader four minutes later. Marc Schaessens' 78th-minute deflected free-kick was too little too late for Westerlo.

Beveren stay bottom
R. Standard de Liège are in fourth place after goals from Ali Lukunku and Gonzague Vandooren earned them a 2-0 win against KSC Eendracht Aalst, but it was a bad day for the Belgian first division's bottom club, KSK Beveren, who went down 3-2 at home to fellow strugglers R. Antwerp FC.

Joy for Germinal
In Saturday's other games, Sporting Lokeren St-Niklaas Waasland drew 0-0 with RAA Louviéroise, KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen won 3-0 against KFC Lommelse SK and K. Lierse Sk were 2-0 winners at K. Sint Truidense VV.
