Birkirkara FC have named Stephen Azzopardi as their new team coach.
Excellent record
The coach, who rose to fame in Malta after taking Balzan Youths FC from the third division to the first division, earned his UEFA A-license at a course at the FIGC Centre in Coverciano.
Strengthening links
The appointment sees a further strengthening of the links between Birkirkara and Balzan Youths. Balzan Youths president Doctor John Zammit Montebello, who brokered the move for Azzopardi, is also the team doctor at Birkirkara.
Borg to assist
The head coach at the Birkirkara Youth Nursery, Mario Borg, has been announced as Azzopardi’s assistant coach after being appointed as caretaker on Wednesday. However, with Azzopardi not officially taking charge until the end of next week, Borg will be guiding Birkirkara for their next Maltese Premier League game against Floriana FC.
