Israel round-up: Tel-Aviv humbled

Hapoel Tel-Aviv were brought back down to earth with a 3-0 loss to Maccabi Netanya in the Israeli Premier League on Monday.

After their historic UEFA Cup third-round triumph over FC Lokomotiv Moscow, Hapoel Tel-Aviv were brought back down to earth with a 3-0 loss to Maccabi Netanya in the Israeli Premier League on Monday.

Player fatigue
Hapoel became the first Israeli team to progress to the last 16 of the UEFA Cup last week following their 1-0 second leg win in Moscow, but the trip to Russia seemed to have taken its toll as their players faded towards the end of the game in Netanya.

Zohar double
Itzik Zohar scored two goals in the space of four minutes around the hour mark to set the home side on their way and Roslan Lobarsky sealed the points with a third late on.

Third spot
The wins takes Netanya up to sixth in the table, while Tel-Aviv missed out on the chance to go second, level on points with the leaders Maccabi Tel-Aviv, and stay third.
