German 1. Bundesliga strugglers FC Hansa Rostock have named Armin Veh as successor to Friedhelm Funkel who was sacked earlier this month.
January start
Veh, who joins from second division SSV Reutlingen, will begin the task of guiding Hansa up the table on 3 January after signing a contract at the Ostseestadion which runs until June 2003.
Winter break
Assistant coach Juri Schluenz, who took over the coaching duties on a caretaker basis, will guide the team for their last two league matches before the winter break starts next week.
Contract clause
The 40-year-old Veh, who played 65 Bundesliga matches for VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach, had a clause in his contract with Reutligen allowing him to leave if he received an offer from a top-flight club. Rostock are currently 13th in the 18-team German first division, four points above the relegation zone after 16 games.
