The first match of the Turkish Cup fourth round threw up a surprise as Fenerbahçe SK were defeated 2-1 at home by Denizlispor on Tuesday.
Advantage doubled
The visitors struck twice in the space of five first-half minutes. First Denizlispor midfield player Dogan Seyfi Atli scored on a rebound after his initial header had hit the bar. Muzaffer Bilazer then doubled the advantage on the half hour.
Chances spurned
Fenerbahçe pulled one back four minutes after half-time as Yusuf Simsek headed home from a right-wing cross by Ali Günes. The hosts had several good chances to draw level but were unable to get the goal they needed.
Lazetic off
Both sides finished the match with ten men. Denizlispor had their captain, Tolunay Kafkas, sent off just before the hour, and he was followed nine minutes later by the home side’s substitute, Nicola Lazetic.
