FC Slavia Sofia have signed striker Stanimir Georgiev from local rivals FC CSKA Sofia for an undisclosed fee.
Three-and-a-half year contract
The powerful 26-year-old forward signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the club on Friday after passing fitness tests, and immediately joined Slavia at their Belmeken winter training camp. Coach Jarko Olarevic hopes that Georgiev will replace Martin Kushev, who has been loaned to champions PFC Levski Sofia for the rest of the season.
Important first-team player
Georgiev moved from FC Chernomorets Burgas to CSKA during the summer of 2000 but played only a handful of matches for the club. At the beginning of this season, he was loaned out to FC Cherno More, CSKA's satellite club, where he was an important first-team player, but failed to score on a regular basis.
