AFC Ajax goalkeeper Fred Grim has been sidelined indefinitely after damaging knee ligaments in his club's 1-1 draw at Roda JC.
Dying moments
The 36-year-old Amsterdam-born stopper, who had played in all 16 of Ajax's Eredivisie matches, was hurt in the dying minutes of Saturday's game. Australian keeper Joe Didulica was brought on for the remainder of the match - his debut for Ajax - and will battle it out with Dutch youngster Maarten Stekelenburg for a place in the starting lineup.
'Very disappointing'
"This is very disappointing for me and the team," Grim said. "I hope to be fit again after the winter break, but this year is over for me."
Sorely missed
Grim will be missed by new coach Ronald Koeman, with second-top Ajax boasting the fourth best defensive record in Holland. They trail leaders Feyenoord by two points but are two points clear of reigning champions PSV Eindhoven.
