Hertha BSC Berlin have decided against extending the contract of coach Jürgen Röber.

Hertha BSC Berlin will not extend the contract of coach Jürgen Röber when it expires at the end of June next year, the German 1. Bundesliga club said on Wednesday.

Mutual decision
At a news conference, Hertha's commercial manager Dieter Hoeness said the decision not to offer a new deal to Röber - who has been at the helm for six years - was a mutual decision and a successor had yet to be chosen.

Deisler decision
Röber had previously criticised the board for selling promising Germany midfield player Sebastian Deisler, who will move to FC Bayern München prior to next season.

Fine display
After a poor start to the season, Hertha been in good form of late, a run of nine Bundesliga matches without defeat lifting them to sixth place in the table. Last Saturday's victory over league leaders Bayer 04 Leverkusen was one of Hertha's finest displays of the season, Andreas Neuendorf and Pál Dárdai the men on target in a 2-1 win.

UEFA Cup exit
The Berlin outfit were eliminated from the UEFA Cup after losing the home leg of their third-round tie 3-0 to Servette FC after a goalless first match in Switzerland.
