Former clubs
Hässler, 35, who previously played for AS Roma and Juventus FC, joined 1860 at the beginning of the 1999/00 season after a disappointing season with 1997 UEFA Champions League winners BV Borussia Dortmund.
World Cup winner
His original contract was set to run until the end of the 2002 season. Hässler, who won the last of his 101 international caps at EURO 2000™ in Germany's 3-0 defeat against Portugal, was in his country's 1990 FIFA World Cup winning side.
