Article body
Ethniki Katigoria leaders AEK Athens crashed to a surprise 3-2 defeat against Iraklis FC at the Kaftantzoglio stadium on Sunday.
Kiriazis on target
Iraklis took the game to their visitors from the kick off and duly took the lead in the tenth minute when Giorgos Kiriazis reacted first to head home after a shot from Vangelis Kutsures came back off the crossbar. Three minutes before the break Levan Kebadze doubled the lead after being played through by Ebenizer Hagan.
Key moment
Christos Maladenis pulled on back for AEK three minutes after the break with an 18-yard strike, but the key moment came in the 65th minute when Panagiotis Bachramis was fouled in the area by Michalis Kassapis. Ederson Fofonka stroked the penalty home to restore the two-goal cushion. AEK's Vassilis Tsartas converted a spot-kick of his own ten minutes later to give Iraklis a nervous final 15 minutes, but they were unable to find the equaliser.
Alexandris hat-trick
An Alexios Alexandris hat-trick helped Olympiakos Piraeus FC close the gap on the league leaders to two points as they swept aside Panahaiki GC 4-0. The champions stamped their authority on this match after 19 minutes when Alexandris fired home the opening goal.
Convincing victory
But it was not until the final 20 minutes that Olympiakos finally buried their opponents. Alexandris claimed his second goal after 73 minutes as he headed Pär Zetterberg's cross into the net, and completed his hat-trick six minutes later with a close-range effort. Stelios Yiannakopulos, a second half substitute for Christos Kontis, rounded off the scoring with a fourth, seven minutes from time.
Panathinaikos win
Sergio Markarian's first game in charge at Panathinaikos FC ended in a 2-1 win over lowly city rivals Aigaleo, but it was a far from impressive performance. Goals from Krzystof Warzychka and Angelos Bassinas in the final 14 minutes saved Panathinaikos from an embarrassing defeat after Tassos Agritis had fired Aigaleo in front just after the break. Aegaleo played the final 13 minutes with ten men following the dismissal of Del Siniore. Panathinaikos' striker Emmanuel Olisadebe was a surprise omission from the squad after reportedly picking up a late injury.
PAOK stay third
FC PAOK Thessaloniki stay third after a comfortable 2-1 win over Akratitos. Yiannakis Okkas and Giorgios Georgiadis gave PAOK a 2-0 lead inside 25 minutes, and although they conceded a Lazaros Semos header on the stroke of half-time, they never looked likely to lose their lead.
OFI in charge
OFI Crete beat rock-bottom Ionikos 4-0 with Roland Gómez bagging a brace. Ilias Kotsios and Minas Pitsos added the others. Panionios GS beat FC Aris Thessaloniki 1-0 thanks to an Erol Bulut goal eight minutes from time.
