Article body
The coach of Israeli Premier League side Maccabi Netanya, Uri Malmilyan, has resigned after the club turned down his request to sign a new player.
No replacement
The rift occurred when Malmilyan asked for a quality replacement for midfielder Itzik Zohar, who has moved to bottom of the table Beitar Jerusalem. The club management responded by insisting there was no budget for such a player.
Breach of contract
"This is a breach of contract by Netanya," said Malmilyan after delivering his letter of resignation on Monday night. While the club attempts to change Malmilyan's mind, his assistant, Gideon Damti, has been put in charge of the team. Maccabi have slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League table with only 18 points from 15 games.
