Demetradze joins Lokomotiv

Real Sociedad's Georgi Demetradze has joined FC Lokomotiv Moscow on loan until the end of the season.

Sociedad announced on Saturday that the Georgian international striker would be returning to the Russian Premier-Liga after refusing a permanent transfer move to Turkish club Besiktas JK in December 2001.

Knee injury
Demetradze joined Sociedad from FC Dynamo Kyiv in December 2000 but has been out of favour at the club after succumbing to a knee injury in February 2001.

Sociedad exodus
The striker is the third foreign player to leave relegation-threatened Sociedad in recent weeks in a clear-out prompted by the arrival of Dutch goalkeeper Sander Westerveld from Liverpool and Yugoslavian striker Darko Kovacevic from S.S. Lazio. Swedish international goalkeeper Mattias Asper has been loaned to Besiktas for the rest of the season and Lithuanian striker Edgaras Jankauskas has signed a similar deal with SL Benfica.
