FC PAOK Thessaloniki have signed Giorgios Koutsis from local rivals FC Aris Thessaloniki.

FC PAOK Thessaloniki have completed the signing of Greek international midfielder Giorgios Koutsis from local rivals FC Aris Thessaloniki for an undisclosed fee.

Three-year deal
The 29-year-old central midfielder took part in his first training session with his new team-mates yesterday after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with Dusan Bajevic's Greek Cup winners.

'I have to look after my interests'
Koutsis said: "I have swapped ships. It feels like I'm turning a new leaf in my career, and I will try to fulfil the expectations from my new employers. I have to admit that it feels strange and I do understand the situation between Aris and PAOK. But I am a professional, and I have to look after my interests. I am happy to be with PAOK, and I am hoping I can help the team."

Blow for Aris
Koutsis, who has won five Greece caps, joined Aris in 1999. His departure will come as another blow to Aris who have already lost coach Henri Michel, who resigned in October after a dispute with the club's owner Giannis Zachoudanis.

UEFA Cup disappointment
PAOK, who were ousted from the UEFA Cup third round by PSV Eindhoven, are currently fourth in the Ethniki Katigoria with Aris just two points behind in fifth place.
