Esbjerg fB coach Viggo Jensen has said that he will step down at the end of the current campaign.

Esbjerg fB coach Viggo Jensen has told the Danish Superligaen club that he intends to step down at the end of the current campaign.

'A brilliant time'
Jensen, an Esbjerg player from 1965 to 1968 before moving to FC Bayern München, decided to invoke a clause in his contract allowing him to move on after giving six months' notice, and will leave the club at the end of June. "I've had a brilliant time in Esbjerg", said Jensen. "The club and I have endured tough times together and we have dealt with these problems in a very positive manner."

'In great condition'
Esbjerg are currently fifth in the Danish top flight, 13 points behind leaders Brøndby IF after 19 games. Jensen's side, however, are only three points behind second-placed FC København and he believes that the squad has matured into a unit capable of challenging for honours. "The squad is in great condition and the players have learned how to motivate themselves," said Jensen. "Therefore it's a great time to announce my departure."
