Sunderland AFC striker Lilian Laslandes has joined 1. FC Köln on loan until the end of the season.

Sunderland AFC striker Lilian Laslandes has joined 1. FC Köln on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal.

Only goal
The German club confirmed that the forward, whose only Sunderland goal came in the English League Cup against Sheffield Wednesday FC, signed on Monday after passing a medical.

'French international'
The French international has only started five FA Premiership games since his €5.6m summer move from FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Köln general manager Hannes Linssen said: "He will have a short-term and immediate impact, otherwise we wouldn't have signed him. After all, he's a French international and has much international experience."

Training camp
Laslandes, who has the option of a three-year deal at Köln, will join his new team-mates on Tuesday for a week-long training camp in Marbella. Köln are fourth-bottom of the 1. Bundesliga and resume their season following the winter break against TSV 1860 Munich on 26 January.
